About

In 1942, a successful pharmacist, Donald H. Reber left a good job that had sustained a family of five through the Great Depression. He made innovations on a small metal cutting lathe that were exchanged for more machinery and launched a small machine shop.

Early customers included glass and glass equipment manufacturers, automotive and marine transmission builders, piston ring equipment, and auto fixtures and gauges.

The 1950’s saw more volume, relocation, better equipment, and inclusion of his three talented sons, Donald E., Jack and David.

The 1960’s brought building expansion, machine assembly, larger lathes, horizontal mills, and grinders. We were early adopters of NC milling machines in 1966. As technologies advanced, we began to understand the mutual benefits of company sponsored training. Of special note; several long term multi-generational employee associations began in this era that endures to this day. Through good and lean times our turnover is low.

The 1970’s brought more growth, CNC equipment and the third generation.

The 1980 came unprecedented challenge. As existing industries matured, Reber Machine & Tool moved forward. Since, we have made significant contributions in these fields:

  • Tamper Proof beverage closures
  • Armature winding
  • High volume bakery equipment
  • Rotary screw compressors
  • Robotics
  • Aviation

In the 1990’s we developed advanced mold expertise.

  • Advanced EDM
  • Hard turning
  • Video inspection
  • CNC grinding (surface & cylindrical)
  • Video inspection
  • CNC engraving

Presently, Reber Machine & Tool, with the help of…

  • Neil Reber, President
  • Terry Reber, Vice President
  • Doug Reber, Sales
  • Eric Dishman, Plant Manager
  • Tim Niccum, Outside Sales

…is achieving continuous improvement of method:

  • ISO and beyond
  • 5-axis milling
  • Bar coding
  • Increased spindle speeds
  • Sub spindle lathe with live tooling
  • Solid modeling

We know the spirit of innovation is nurtured by thoughtful preparation and bold determination to challenge circumstance. Concepts, modifications and repairs are welcome here.
